I make my movies without hassle in Iran: Farhadi

Iran director Asghar Farhadi says in a media report he has no difficulty in making films in the country.

Oscar-winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi says in a US-based media report that he does not have any difficulty in making his movies in Iran.

Farhadi said in a Reuters interview that “in terms of making my film, I don't face any difficulty” in the country.

The internationally acclaimed director, whose movie ‘A Separation’ won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012, is on course for an new Oscar award with his psychological thriller ‘The Salesman’.

‘The Salesman’ tells the story of a young couple named Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti) who move into a new flat in the center of Tehran. But an incident linked to the previous tenant dramatically changes their life.

Being Iran’s submission to the 89th Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category, the film has already won double awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the Cannes Film Festival 2016.

As a reaction to Tuesday's Academy Awards nominations, Farhadi also said to AP that "any film can have an impact on our feelings. And also when the film is over, those feelings turn into thoughts and reflections. At the root of any kind of change, there is thoughtfulness and reflection."

The 89th Academy Awards ceremony will honor the best films of 2016, taking place on February 26, 2017.
